Lady Haig’s Poppy factory, Edinburgh

The Out and About group visited Lady Haig’s  Poppy factory in Edinburgh.
In 1926 Lady Haig established the factory to produce poppies exclusively for Scotland.

Poppy Products

The visit consisted of a one hour guided tour by Dougie, a veteran himself. This was an excellent tour and extremely informative, providing the group with the opportunity to view the poppies being made. After the tour there was the chance to ask questions, followed by refreshments.

Lady Haig's poppy factory has a team of disabled veterans producing over 3 million poppies by hand for the Scottish Poppy Appeal each year. People in attendance made a donation to Poppy Scotland and we all learned a great deal about the need to raise funds for veterans through selling poppies.
