We arrived in Edinburgh at the Royal Scottish Academy on Thursday, 23rd January 2025 with high hopes of immersing ourselves in J.M.W. Turner – Ireland’s Vaughan Bequest at The Royal Scottish Academy. Unfortunately, our plans were thwarted by unexpectedly long queues that stretched around the front of the building, combined with rather inclement weather. After some deliberation, we made the difficult decision not to wait for the exhibition.
However .. the National Gallery of Ireland has kindly granted us permission to use a selection of images from that exhibition 'Ireland’s Vaughan Bequest'
This generous gesture allows us to share Turner’s remarkable work with you, despite not being able to view the full exhibition in person.
The collection offers a compelling glimpse into Turner’s mastery, from expansive landscapes and coastal scenes to architectural studies, each piece a testament to his enduring legacy.
