In August we had a 6 mile walk from the Tay Bridge along the banks of the River Tay then cutting up over Scotscraig Hill and continuing into Newport. The weather was good and the views were spectacular.
In September Susan Kirkwood led a walk in Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, through the woods and along the River Almond where a weir separates a sluice from the main river and becomes a feeder for the Union Canal. The high point of the walk, literally, was walking over Lin's Mill Aqueduct with a 76ft drop beneath us.
Due to bad weather the walk scheduled for October at Elie was changed to a more local walk in Markinch. This 5 mile walk passed by Northall Cemetery where the local Earl would have sat on top of the "moot hill" to resolve local disputes. Twice we stopped on conveniently placed benches just to admire the view and pick out local landmarks.
The walk on Wednesday 13th November was at Callendar House Estate, Falkirk.
It was 3 miles in duration and we stopped to admire the mausoleum along the way where the photo was taken.
We then had refreshments in the lovely tea rooms within the House and admired the leather wall coverings and chandelier before exploring the surprisingly large museum with its many exhibits.
We welcomed two new members on this walk and hope to see them again in the future.
