Membership News - August 2027
After the launch of our Online Form in August 26 the form has been successfully used by 69% of our members. Thank you to all those who have used it! Please use it again this year and if you didn't use it last year please give it a try!
Membership Forms have now been updated to reflect current guidance from the Third Age Trust with the inclusion of Fife u3a Terms and Conditions of Membership and Fife u3a Privacy Statement.
Email confirmation of your membership will now include a Membership Card which states your name and your Membership Number. The card can be held electronically on your phone or printed and used to identify you at Monthly Meetings.
Fife u3a TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP
All members must:
- Abide by the guiding principles of the u3a movement
- Always act in the best interests of u3a and never do anything to bring u3a into disrepute
- Abide by the terms and conditions of the constitution
- Behave with respect and courtesy to members at u3a and to staff at the Third Age Trust
- Comply with, and support, the decisions of the elected committee
- Advise the committee of any change in your personal details
- Abide by the Member Code of Conduct
Fife u3a PRIVACY STATEMENT
Fife u3a processes member information so that we can keep you informed about events, groups and activities as part of your membership. Fife u3a’s lawful basis for collecting this information is legitimate interest/contract. In processing your information Fife u3a will:
- Store it securely
- Use it to communicate with you as a u3a member
- Share your information with group leaders/convenors for the groups where you are a member
- Send you general information about the Third Age Trust
GIFT AID - Boost your subscription by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you give us!
Gift Aid your membership subscription - Conditions
Gift Aid is reclaimed, directly from HMRC, from the tax you pay for the current tax year. Your address is needed to identify you as a current UK taxpayer and your membership address will be used.
You must be a UK taxpayer and understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all donations in that tax year it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
You MUST notify membershipsecretary.Fifeu3a@gmail.com or via Fife u3a website - if you:
• wish to cancel this declaration
• change your name or home address
• no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains
If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
**IMPORTANT** for Joint Memberships when both agree to Gift Aid:
When choosing Gift Aid you can pay half the membership fee each from individual accounts or all the membership fee from a joint account. If the full joint fee is paid from one individual’s account then we can only claim Gift Aid on half of it.

Prefer Paper? No Problem. If you're not confident using online forms, links to the paper versions are on the buttons below. Once printed and completed, simply post it back to the Membership Secretary. Fife u3a is here to make sure the process works comfortably for everyone.
No Email Access
If you have no email address and are perhaps viewing this site from a shared or public PC, then please contact the Membership Secretary via the link below.
NB. Fife u3a sends out a quarterly newsletter by email. If you wish to have a copy of these newsletters there is an additional cost of £8 for printing and postage.

Paying your Membership Fees
Upon receipt of both your Form and Payment a confirmation of membership will be emailed to you by the Membership Secretary.
Online banking is Fife u3a's preferred option — it’s secure and convenient. Bank Details are on all the forms - Please remember to put your name as the Reference. If you are seeking a Joint Membership, and either or both members wish to Gift Aid their subscription, please read the Important Message under Gift Aid above or on any of the forms.
Paying in Person? On designated dates, the card reader will be available for face-to-face payments. Paper forms will also be on hand for anyone who prefers the traditional route.
Cheque - If you’d rather, you’re very welcome to send a cheque to the Membership Secretary - details are on all the forms.
